CouCou's Spring Craft Ideas for Kids

Now that we know why we should be doing crafts with our kids and why we should be doing seasonal crafts, let’s get into the fun stuff! Here are some of our favorite spring crafts for kids.

Adi’s Favorite Slime Recipe

Astrid will admit that she hates slime as much as most mothers do and there is a strict no slime policy in her house, but as many 10 year olds, her daughter Ariadne (Adi) is addicted to the stuff, so she allows ’slime cooking’ on occasion, on the kitchen counter only!

Slime is a fun spring craft for kids that’s tactile and kids love it! It’s also a great way to keep your kids busy on a rainy day. At CouCou, we offer a wide selection of kids arts and crafts supplies, including everything you’ll need to make slime.

What You’ll Need:

How to Make It:

Step 1: The key to good slime is contact lens solution! So gather your ingredients:

  • ¾ cup White Glue (elmer’s white glue is the best)
  • ½ teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 pump Body Lotion (we get inexpensive kind like Suave or similar)
  • 1 ½ tablespoon Contact Lens solution (also know as ‘activator’ in the slime world), that contains boric acid, which is important or it will not work.

Step 2: Start with 3/4 cup of glue and add the baking soda and pump of lotion. Mix well together.  *optional - If you want to make extra stretchy slime, you can also add about ¼ cup water.

Step 3: Start to slowly add the contact lens solution - a few drops to start and keep kneading the slime.  Keep adding until the desired consistency is achieved.  Be careful not to add too much or it will get hard!

And, that’s it! You have a fun and colorful DIY slime for spring that your kids will love to play with. You can also use glitter glue instead to get glittery slime.  Adi also likes to add a couple drops of lavender or other essential oils to make it smell delicious!

Coloring is another classic kids craft that never goes out of style. Our selection of coloring books from Djeco includes a variety of different themes, including animals, dinosaurs, and even nature scenes that are perfect for the spring season!

Gardening with Kids

Gardening is a great way to teach your children about the importance of nature and the environment. It’s also a fun spring activity that can be very educational. And, it’s a great way to spend some extra quality time with your kids outdoors.

Get your children involved in the gardening process by having them plant seeds, water plants, and eventually watch them grow! Not only is gardening a fun and educational activity, but it also teaches children the importance of patience and caring for the environment.
