About Us
CouCou (pronounced “koo-koo”) is a French word used for the children’s game of Peek-a-boo. It’s also used as a term of endearment and a sweet way to say ‘hello’.
So, CouCou! Welcome to our shop, where our goal is to keep childhood wonder and imagination alive in children as well as adults.
At CouCou, we’re more than just a children’s store. We’re an award-winning kid’s boutique that prioritizes sourcing the highest quality niche brands for kids. Inspired by European family concept stores, which perfectly combine clothing, accessories, arts and lifestyle products for children, as well as a sprinkling for women, to create a seamless atmosphere and a one-stop shopping experience for everything you need. Our collection includes expertly sourced children's apparel, accessories, toys, crafts, homeware, and more, ideal for ages 0 - 12.
Founded by Astrid Merget Motsenigos in 2016, CouCou was born out of a desire to be closer to home during a time when her career as a creative director in photography was often keeping her away for too long. Her then only child was just 3 years old, when Astrid, born in Spain, decided to bring her European roots to Boston. What was meant to be a temporary vocation, turned into a celebrated small shop business, loved by not just locals, but customers from as far as Japan, regularly shopping Astrid's carefully chosen collections. You will find small, sustainable brands such as Piupiuchick, Misha & Puff, Apolina, The Campamento, Emile et Ida, Soor Ploom, Tinycottons, Playforever, Jojo Facroty, Fagus, Maileg, Loog Guitars, We Are Gommu, Konges Slojd, Rice Denmark and so many more gorgeous brands. Each designer is chosen for its thoughtful production ethics, and items that are made to last, not to mass produce.
CouCou Studio:
CouCou recently moved! Originally opened in the heart of the South End neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts, our shop recently transformed into a cozier and more intimate version of what so many have grown to love. CouCou Studio, is now located in Norwood, inside an 1800's converted mill, The Winsmith Mill Market. The studio now serves as an atelier of sorts, curating a personal shopping experience for those who visit. It is nestled along an eclectic collection of vintage shops, musicians, artists and more. Our Online Community:
From concept store to e-commerce, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Coucou shifted its strategy to e-commerce.
